Why Empowered. Why Now: Defining the Empowered Difference.

At Empowered Physical Therapy we have deemed ourselves as “different” and we are so proud of this fact that we quite literally wear it on our chests.

Different can be defined as partly or totally unlike in nature, form, or quality. And when I think of some of the other physical therapy clinics I have worked in, observed at, or heard about from others I can say that Empowered Physical Therapy is much different.

Why you ask?

Well, first and foremost we see the human body differently. Our ability to assess human movement is unmatched. Being able to tease out subtle breakdowns in your movement patterns, whether that is walking, squatting, or snatching a barbell over your head, is a skill. And luckily for us, and for you – this is a skill every single one of our Doctors possess.

Assessment is one thing, but being able to take that information and implement a gameplan in both the short- and long-term is a whole different story.

A short-term game plan is the easy part, and this is where most physical therapy clinics will stop care, and you, the patient, will get “discharged”. Any properly trained PT can increase strength via prescribe therapeutic exercise or improve mobility through manual therapy techniques, but then what happens?

What happens when you find yourself free from pain, but uncertain on what caused it in the first place?

What happens when you injured yourself at the gym and have not explored the lift that resulted in said injury?

What happens when you stop doing your exercises because you are “better” just to find that those very same symptoms came back?

Most would and do chalk it up to “physical therapy didn’t work for me” and succumb to a life of inactivity and continued pain, despite eliminating the activity that caused it in the first place.

Please do yourself a favor and do not fall in this trap.

Movement is Medicine.

It always has been, and it always will be.


Believe it or not, you do not have low back pain because you have a weak core and tight hips. There is no single one exercise that will free you from this pain if you do not know how to move properly.

At Empowered we do this daily. Rather than looking at your physical therapy “exercises” as the “fix” we utilize therapeutic exercise to facilitate functional movement patterns. Not as a means “fix” to your problem. If you don’t know how to properly stabilize your spine while hinging at the hips your pain will continue, no matter how many dead bugs you do.

Our job as Doctors of Physical Therapy is simple: help people out of pain. However, at Empowered Physical Therapy our job is much more than just that. Getting you out of pain is one thing, keeping you out of pain and empowering you to live your life unrestricted is a whole other thing.
